Privacy Policy

This page outlines Distillio’s key data practices for authentication, billing, analytics, email delivery, and AI-assisted report workflows.

Last updated: March 14, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information Distillio collects, how we use it, and what choices you have.

Our goal is to keep data handling transparent, minimal, and aligned with the product’s practical purpose.

2. Authentication and Account Data

When you create an account or sign in, we process authentication details such as your email address and account identifiers.

We use this information to secure your access, maintain your account, and provide core app functionality.

3. Book, Session, and Report Data

When you upload a shelf photo, we process image content to identify books and support report generation.

We store your selected books, session history, and generated report outputs so you can revisit your Distillio library.

4. AI Processing for Identification and Report Generation

Distillio uses automated processing and AI services to identify titles from uploaded images and generate structured report content.

This processing may involve sending limited relevant data to service providers strictly for delivering requested features.

5. Stripe Payments and Billing

Payments and subscription billing are handled by Stripe.

Distillio does not store full payment card details; billing records and subscription status data needed to provide access are retained.

6. Loops Email Delivery and Unsubscribe Handling

We use Loops to deliver product emails, including trial nurture and subscriber retention messages.

Loops manages subscription preferences and unsubscribe handling so users can opt out of non-essential email communications.

7. PostHog Product Analytics

We use PostHog to understand product usage, improve onboarding, and measure key funnel events such as report generation and subscription upgrades.

Analytics data is used in aggregate to improve product experience and business performance.

9. Data Sharing

We share data with trusted processors only as needed to run Distillio (for example, hosting, payments, analytics, and email delivery).

We do not sell personal data.

10. Data Retention

We retain account and usage data for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal requirements, and resolve disputes.

Retention periods may vary by data type and legal obligation.

11. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information.

You may also object to or restrict certain processing activities where applicable.

12. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal data.

No system can guarantee absolute security, but we continuously improve protections.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy over time. Material updates will be reflected by the updated date on this page.

14. Contact

If you have privacy questions or requests, contact Distillio through the support channel listed in the app.
